Hamlet is the reason why I love Shakespeare so much. Hamlet can be political, religious, humanist and more all at once, which makes it such a compelling read. One could say the play thrives in ambiguity. Was Hamlet really mad or was it just an act? Was there really a ghost of King Hamlet? If there was, was the ghost a devil in disguise? For me, the famous and oft-quoted "to be or not to be" soliloquy compounded my identification with Hamlet. Every time I read it, I think that all this boy wants to do is sleep. Who doesn't?If you could read only one thing for the rest of your life, I would recommend Hamlet.
